Abstract

This book is dedicated to every key worker. Millions have operated tirelessly and courageously during the time of COVID-19. The original idea for the book was to honour the hard work and commitment shown, and to strive to make sense of complex issues of fear and anxiety that have arisen during this incredibly challenging period. The book was put together in a record time of two months, an astonishing achievement which would not have been possible without the passion and focus of more than twenty authors. We engaged a diverse group of professionals working within healthcare and academia, with nursing students, and with people with lived experience of the fears, confusions and hopes engendered by the virus. This book is a thought-provoking and inspiring reflection of the emotional and practical challenges faced by healthcare workers, educators, students and patients.
