Abstract

The author analyzes the person-centered tradition in counseling in Great Britain. He reflects on what if a corrupted tradition lives on in the name of what it once was and if the person-centered tradition, which is countercultural, would survive within the current cultural institutions. He mentions that one reason people try to manage and manipulate each other, and one reason hierarchies abound, is that so many people believe they are doing other people a favor by bossing them around and structuring their lives.
